Background Information Concerning the New Registration Costs
The move from Killington to Champlain College has brought about a change
in how costs are handled. For the first time, the Pipers’ Gathering
is able to offer fully inclusive registration covering accommodation, food
and piping activities. We believe that this offers excellent value for money,
especially compared to projected costs had the event remained at Killington.
Compared to our previous venue at Killington, the costs at Champlain College have swung from covering luxury hotel accommodation to paying for excellent workshop facilities. All our workshops are equipped with audio/visual equipment and are separate from one another to reduce noise interference between classes. We believe that this, together with the ability to take our meals together and sleep on campus (single accommodation or double where preferred) will provide the best possible atmosphere for meeting new friends and exchanging ideas, tunes, pipe maintenance hints, etc.
This all-inclusive approach has entailed the Pipers’ Gathering providing substantial financial guarantees to Champlain College. To make this work and to ensure that this event continues into the future, we need your support. Please attend and enjoy the Pipers’ Gathering this year.
Handicapped Accessible: The Pipers’ Gathering is handicapped accessible. Please inquire about large-print programs, sign language interpretation, and wheelchair seating at all activities.
Volunteers Needed: We need volunteers to help us run things as smoothly as possible. Volunteers are needed for transporting artists, helping at the information desk, helping with CD/T-shirt sales during the day, assistance at the evening concerts and other tasks. If you are willing to help, please check the box on the registration form.
Continued Support: Those who were at the concerts last year may remember this mantra. "What is the greatest nation in the world? DONATION!" It costs over $20,000 to bring you the Pipers' Gathering weekend each year, only about half of which is covered by registration fees. The balance is raised through grants, donations, sales of T-shirts, CDs, etc. Did I say donations? Please consider a donation to help ensure that one of your favorite weekends of the year will still be there for you in the future.
