This set of Scottish small pipes was originally made by the amateur maker, Gordon Mooney, but a new chanter in box wood has been supplied by the New York maker Nate Banton. The set is pitched in A.
The replacement value of the chanter, as stated on Nate Banton’s web site is $350 US and the rest of the set (bag, bellows, drones and blowpipe) have an estimated value of $400, giving a total value of $750 US
The replacement cost of this instrument, should it be lost and a new instrument were to be purchased from Nate Banton, is $1,450 at Nov. 2010 prices.
